SISTAR‘s Hyorin and T-ara‘s Jiyeon who have been cast in the new ‘Dream High 2‘ drama expressed the need for special laws protecting minors in the entertainment industry.

At the ‘Dream High 2‘ press conference that was held at the Imperial Palace Hotel in Seoul on January 17th, Jiyeon remarked, “In the drama, there are special laws protecting minors in the entertainment industry, and I wish those laws existed in reality.”

In the drama series, there are laws that protect under-age celebrities, making it illegal for minors to work more than 30 hours at a time, and those who are not enrolled in school are forbidden from even becoming a celebrity.

Practices and TV appearances are forbidden after 10PM, and under-age minors are also required to attend 20 hours of classes on a weekly basis.

The ‘special laws’ in the drama series apply to hot fictional idol group HUSH & EDEN who need to transfer schools, and the same laws also apply to them when they are in Japan.

T-ara’s Jiyeon was born in 1993, and she is currently a high school student. she added, “I want to attend school with my friends, and want some time for myself. I like being a celebrity, but I do feel I need a break from time to time.”

SISTAR’s Hyorin agreed with her saying, “when you’re a celebrity, it’s so hard to keep a regular sleep schedule and it’s hard to maintain a healthy lifestyle. my schedule is so jam-packed that I have less time to practice singing then back when I was a trainee.”

2AM‘s Jung Jinwoon however had a different opinion stating, “if those laws were actually signed, there will be definite limitations on what we could do as artists. there are a lot of things I learned as I worked. I made my debut when I was a minor too, but I feel like if you really wanted to, you can both work and go to school at the same time.”

In the drama, Jinwoon plays the role of a devious student who dreams of becoming a rock star, while Hyorin plays the role of a lead vocalist named NaNa, and Jiyeon plays the role of an idol as well.

‘Dream High 2′ tells the story of students who dream of becoming top stars in the industry. The series stars Kang Sora, Jung Jinwoon, Park Jiyeon, JB, Hyorin, Park Seo Jun, Yoo Soyoung, Kim Jisoo, Ailee, Jr, Jung Yeon Joo, Park Jin Young, Kim Jung Tae, Kwon Hae Hyo, Choi Yeo Jin, Kahi, and more. The first episode airs January 30th.

Owner, friends mourn passing of well-known Taunton pooch

he was renowned for his snappy attire and sporty fashion sense, and will be remembered as a friendly presence to all who crossed his path as he took his daily, downtown constitutional.

And although there was no obituary in the newspaper announcing that Jed the miniature dachshund died on Jan. 3, he’ll be missed by many in and around Taunton’s downtown district.

“someone here once asked me why I had boxes of dog biscuits under my desk. everyone enjoyed it when he came in,” said Addie Osso, an office employee of Taunton Municipal Lighting Plant on Weir Street.

“I feel bad,” Osso added, after learning that Jed had been put down by his owner, Jonathan “J.J” Brewer. “I know how much he loved that dog.”

J.J. Brewer said he had no choice but to bring his companion of more than a dozen years into the Dighton-Rehoboth Animal Hospital to be put to sleep. The dog could no longer eat and had started to moan in pain.

“I had an appointment scheduled, but I told them you need to see him now,” Brewer, 46, said.

Despite being a miniature dachshund, which means his body was shorter than the archetypal “hot dog” version, Jed belonged to a breed known for developing spine-related maladies.

Brewer says a dachshund’s life expectancy averages around 13 years. Jed, he said, was three weeks shy of his thirteenth birthday when he expired.

“The last two years he slowed down,” said Brewer, who noted that the last time Jed took a walk on his leash was in the summer.

Known for his sports jerseys, sombreros and ever-so-cool shades, the short-legged, good-natured and quiet hound — whose natural coat was black, save for some rust-colored patches on his legs, snout and rear end — had become a distinctive part of the downtown landscape.

during the warmer months Brewer himself added to that distinctiveness by providing a marked contrast to his diminutive buddy. The longtime Taunton State Hospital mental health worker, who enjoys working out with weights, would often wear tank tops revealing his chiseled physique.

“it was hysterical, a riot. I mean, a big burly guy like that with that little dog,” said Cindy Silvia, another TMLP worker who looked forward to greeting the duo whenever Brewer came in to pay his utility bill. Charity events

Besides being a natural ham who never resisted donning Red Sox, Patriots or 49ers body shirts, as well as the occasional Harley Davidson leather cap, Jed helped raise money for worthy causes.

Brewer says the two of them had participated in an annual charity walk for stray animals held at New Bedford’s Buttonwood Park. In 2005, Jed and Brewer collected the first-place trophy for best dog-human look-alike.

One year the two collected a medal for taking part in Taunton’s annual run for Ricky scholarship — an event held in memory of former Taunton State Hospital worker Richard Silvia, who in the 1990s drowned while saving the life of a boy who had fallen through the ice.

Brewer also takes pride in a certificate he collected from the non-profit CO-OP, formerly Cooperative Productions, recognizing Jed as “an official pet therapist” for visiting clients. “One patient used to get his camera every time Jed wore his Halloween or Santa outfit,” Brewer said.

Brewer says he’d also occasionally bring the dog with him to work at the state hospital so patients could pet Jed.

“Hopefully it elevated their spirits,” he said.

Brewer said his dog was always a good sport about dressing up, but would scale back a bit when the heat became oppressive. he realized Jed actually seemed to enjoy being the center of attention when 10 years ago the two of them visited Cape Cod canal when the Tall Ships came through.

“it looked like he (Jed) stopped and looked at them (spectators). People were snapping photos while we were walking,” Brewer said.

over the years, as Jed became something of a local celebrity — thanks, in part, to the occasional photo in the Taunton Daily Gazette — Brewer said he accumulated a drawer-full of clothes and hats, some donated by friends and fans.

One friend living in Mexico sent two doggie-scale sombreros. Jed’s faux sunglasses, Brewer points out, came from pet stores and were designed to not adversely affect a canine’s eyes.

“I was always buying something for him like he was my kid,” Brewer said. Close calls

Brewer, a Taunton native, said he grew up in a household with dogs and other pets, but had not owned his own dog until he spotted the three-month old Jed-to-be while visiting a Raynham pet shop with a friend.

“I held him and looked at him and thought about him the next three days. I couldn’t get him out of my mind.”

Brewer said he ended up calling the store and asked them to hold the puppy, which had been among a group of dachshunds for sale.

Jed was an acronym, he said, derived from his own name, as well as from both his daughter’s name and that of a woman who was his girlfriend at the time.

although dachshunds are known for being somewhat difficult to housebreak and train, Brewer said Jed adjusted quickly to his Pleasant Street apartment.

The only problem was when Jed realized he could use his paws to scale and jump over a gate designed to keep young children confined to a specific area.

Brewer then introduced a pet cage, and Jed learned to immediately go inside before Brewer left for work.

And as is the case with many small dogs, Jed liked company when it came time for his master to go to sleep, which meant that he usually slept on the bed.

Brewer said Jed was obedient and only barked when it was time to go out for a walk or be let out in the yard — which for the last few years happened more often after the two of them moved to a multi-family house owned by the Brewer family on Myrtle place.

Jed also had to learn to accept Brewer’s pet parrot Mojo, a fair-sized bird that is not confined to a cage.

“Jed came after him a couple of times and I told him ‘no,’” said Brewer, who adds that his dog finally got the message not to mess with Mojo after the parrot gave him a good peck.

There were just two serious scares during Jed’s life. Brewer recounts how a neighbor’s pit bull, which previously had been friendly, one day attacked and grabbed his dog by the neck; luckily Jed survived unscathed.

another time a library patron didn’t see Jed as he trailed behind his master and drove over the dog.

“all I could see was him on his back and his feet in the air. Luckily the tires didn’t run him over,” Brewer said. “he had a scraped belly, but half an hour later he wanted to go back out for a walk.” One of a kind

Brewer says one of the most heartfelt gestures expressing sympathy about his pet’s passing came in the form of a hand-drawn letter from some neighborhood kids who used to stop by and play with Jed.

“sorry for your loss,” it reads. “Jed will be missed but he’ll always be in our hearts.” An arrow points to a smile drawn onto the image of a dachshund.

Brewer said he plans eventually to keep Jed’s ashes in his house and erect a modest memorial in the backyard. as for a replacement, he said he’ll get another small dog — this time form the city’s pet shelter — but not until at least the spring.

“all dogs are special, but nothing can replace this dog. he had an impact on people because of his personality,” Brewer said, adding that “I believe he was a special dog.”

Justin Bieber singing Let It Be by The Beatles created huge controversy?

First he copied the Beatles iconic mushroom bangs look and now he’s doing cover tunes by the band on live TV? the 2011 new Years Rockin’ Eve with hosts Dick Clark and Ryan Seacrest sparked the first music scandal of 2012 when fans of the classic rock band seemed to get offended when the young Canadian teen scene celebrity and famous Latino musician Carlos Santana did their own rendition of the British pop stars classic tune let it Be.

Pop music singer Justin Bieber rang in the new Year with a performance at Dick Clark’s new Year’s Rockin’ Eve with hosts Dick Clark, Ryan Seacrest and Jenny McCarthy in Times Square in new York City. among the other hits he sang, the Biebs did a cover of one of the most iconic rock bands in the history of the world. That’s right, the young star treated the audience to his 21st century rendition of the classic rock song “let it Be” by The Beatles. the audience screamed wildly when the singer (who played piano) announced he was being backed up on guitar by Carlos Santana. but many folks were critical about the two famous musicians performing the piece. Why? We have no idea.

Capital FM reported the music scandal news about the Biebs, first retelling his words before divulging view critiques. before the song started, Justin Bieber said:

“What has happened happened, and what will be will be,” Justin added, before breaking into the opening chords of the iconic song supported by guitarist Carlos Santana.

Most of the fans were pleased with the performance, though arguably some probably didn’t think much of the young green celebrity trying to cover such a well known hit.

The Biebs has been compared to the Fab 4 before, as early as 2010. in fact, he made the comparison himself, but only in jest, remarking that, like the Beatles, he also had scores of teenage girls chasing him around. [And he was quick to add that he had not problem with that.] Critics were angered by the fact that he also copied the iconic shaggy bang look that was started a men’s hairstyle trend back in the late 1950s and carried through (almost) 1960 and the early 1970s.

It was the musical comparison, though, that raised the hackles of fans and non-Belieber critics alike noted website The Hollywood Gossip. some Beliebers [devoted Justin Bieber fans] cringed verbally on Twitter, perhaps knowing what critics would have to say; and others, who never much cared for Bieber’s style anyway, got quite rude, calling him talentless, girly, auto-tuned, and worse on the social networks when sharing their impressions of how the talented 17-year-old did.

His manager Scooter Braun hadn’t helped much either late last year in promoting the idea that the Biebs has always been capable of being a stand alone music icon on his own. Copycat comparisons started in the rumor mills attacking his music talent when he publicly compared the pop star celeb to the Beatles again back in October, much to the Bieber camp’s chagrin.

Certainly Braun should have known the right publicity move was to stress Justin Bieber had come into his own. By that time, Biebs was celebrating the upcoming release of Under the Mistletoe, his new Christmas album [one he donates most of the proceeds from to a variety of food bank charities].

Even though Braun tried to hint at the comparison rather than make it directly (perhaps anticipating more criticism in spite of Bieber’s acclaim), everyone knew just who he was talking about. he was claiming the Biebs was just as great or greater of a musical talent than Sir Paul McCartney from the Beatles.

Entertainment Weekly reported:

“I don’t want to draw comparisons,” he is quoted as saying by Billboard magazine, “but there was a band during the British Invasion that had girls screaming at them. I think you know who I’m talking about.”

But neither the criticism nor the adoration seems to have gotten to the Biebs. He’s got a thick skin and a big heart, and arguably he spends his time doing just what he does best: giving back. the star celeb singer is a supporter of the Give back Hollywood Foundation, Pencils of Promise, the Red Cross, and more.

Why anyone would want to criticize a kid who, for his 17th birthday, asked fans to donate to his personal MyCharity: Water campaign in lieu of gifts in the hopes of raising $17,000 to get clean water to developing nations, is beyond this author. That’s just straight up and down goodness.

And to ping Carlos Santana, the famous humanitarian who advocates for Latino causes, for doing his own rendition of a classic rock tune? It’s clearly ridiculous (in most musician’s opinions).

This author’s advice? if you don’t like Justin Bieber or Carlos Santana, just… let it Be.

The performance was good. but don’t take my word for it. Push the play button and watch the video clip below and make your own decision about whether or not the young man and famous humanitarian sang the song because he was truly moved by it. was he as good as Paul McCartney? Nah. but that really is not the point, is it? What was great about the rendition is everyone around the world — no matter what their age or generation — for that brief moment in time were able to sing the words in unison while they were rocking out to it.

Marc Anthony Dating Venezuelan Model Shannon De Lima

J-Lo’s not the only one moving on!

Marc Anthony has a new lady in his life. On Tuesday, the 43-year-old singer tweeted a message to Venezuelan model Shannon de Lima that said, translated into English, “To Shannon, my statue of liberty. Kisses baby!”

PHOTOS: J-Lo and Marc in happier times

According to Hola.com, de Lima has a 4-year-old son from a previous relationship. She and Anthony went public with their romance this past weekend, re-tweeting congratulatory messages, including one from his son Chase (whom he adopted when he was dating Debbie Rosado.)

Chase tweeted: “To all my followers and all Twitter peeps, follow the best couple of 2012 and for many for years Marc Anthony and Shannon de Lima!”

Since their split in July, Jennifer Lopez has moved on with a much younger man: Casper Smart, 24. She was also romantically involved with Bradley Cooper.

PHOTOS: biggest celebrity splits

Earlier this week, Smart, a backup dancer, was sentenced to one year probation and ordered to pay a $500 fine for speeding.

“He loves thrill-seeking,” a Smart pal recently told Us Weekly. Even while driving Lopez’s Bentley, “he drives like a maniac.”

It was Christmastime fireworks for Katy Perry and Russell Brand this year — but not the good kind!

After planning to whisk her family via private jet to husband Brand’s London hometown for the holidays, Perry, 27, changed course, opting to fly to Hawaii with friends.

PHOTOS: Katy and Russell’s zany romance

“They had a massive fight,” an insider tells Us Weekly. “She was like, ‘F–k you. I’m going to do my own thing.’ Russell replied, ‘Fine, f–k you too.’”

Which explains why, come Dec. 25, the multi-platinum singer was snapped splashing in the Pacific Ocean off Kauai — sans wedding ring. Meanwhile, British comic Brand, 36, was catching up with a pal in a pub in chilly Coverack, Cornwall.

PHOTOS: Katy’s crazy cleavage

Though the pair denied divorce rumors in November, sources say trouble is brewing. “They haven’t split up just yet, but things are not good,” says the first source. “The fighting is getting worse.”

At issue? among other things, explains another source: “Katy doesn’t think Russell respects her parents’ Christian beliefs or her friends.”

PHOTOS: Biggest splits fo 2011

So will the couple — who wed in October 2010 after a whirlwind courtship — make it through 2012? Says the first source, “The split may come soon, but they are both so dramatic and volatile, the relationship could become great again.”

New Photos: Brad Pitt’s Malibu Home Officially Listed

UPDATE: After a month and a half on the market with only photos of the magnificent ocean view, new interior photos of Brad Pitt’s Malibu home have been added to the listing. Now prospective buyers (and Brangelina fanatics) can take a peek inside the modern abode of Hollywood’s A-list couple.

Right after his divorce to Jennifer Aniston, and before he met his current leading lady Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt picked up a mid-century modern home on Malibu’s gold coast for $8.41 million.

According to Real Estalker, Brad Pitt’s home has been floating on the Malibu real estate market as an $18 million pocket listing but this is the first time it’s hit the market as a MLS-listed home, currently listed for $13.75 million. although it’s on the open market, there aren’t any photos beyond an aerial view.

Although Angelina and Brad spend most of their time abroad with their six kids— most notably at Chateau Miraval in the south of France— they also own quite a selection of homes in the U.S. in addition to Brad’s bachelor pad in Malibu, they have an enormous compound in Los Angeles, a mansion in new Orleans, and an apartment in new York. currently the couple is renting a 16th century estate in Scotland while Pitt finishes filming World War Z.

Brad is a self-professed architecture buff and has a hobby of restoring older homes– most often mid-century modern real estate. he spent several million on this Malibu home in particular. the bluff-side home features walls of glass with sweeping views of the coastline, dark bamboo flooring, and a modern kitchen with stainless steel appliances, and walk-in refrigerator and freezer. Set back from the Pacific Coast Highway behind private gates, the home has stairs and access to a sandy beach cove.

Although the home has 4,088 square feet of living space, with four bedrooms and four bathrooms, it’s most likely on the small side for the Jolie-Pitt clan. but if it doesn’t sell, Angelina and Brad do have the option to expand— it’s one of the few homes zoned for an additional second story in the area.

The listing is held by Ellen Francisco of Coldwell Banker.

KATE TURNS 30! HERE’S WHAT COULD BE IN STORE FOR THE DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE…

to celebrate her 30th birthday tomorrow, royal expert Ingrid Seward looks at how far Kate has come

I have a new favorite restaurant. I have never eaten there, maybe never will. I don’t know if the food is gourmet superb or tastes like burned rubber, or whether the service is top-notch or seven-year-itch slow. it doesn’t really matter. my new favorite restaurant is Colby’s Breakfast & Lunch, located in Portsmouth, N.H. the eatery is a long way from Enid, but very close to my heart. the other day, Jeremy Colby won me over when he posted a sign in the window of his establishment, reading, “No Politicians, No Exceptions.” Colby, it seems grew tired of the unending parade of presidential hopefuls trooping through his establishment in advance of Tuesday’s new Hampshire primary, and decided to put a stop to it. the pols and their supporters, not to mention the media types following them everywhere, were bad for business, not to mention his other customers’ appetites. “There is no forewarning, and all of a sudden they come in and we are overrun by cameras and blah, blah and blah,” Colby told MSNBC. “We’re trying to run a business here, and this whole meet-and-greet and vote for me deal is very distractive and disruptive, not only to our staff, but to our customers. It’s hard, and I find it very rude.” you tell ’em, Jeremy. Mind you, I fully understand the importance of elections, the power of the vote, of governance of the people, by the people and for the people. the right of each American adult to cast his or her ballot for their chosen candidates is one of the great gifts of living in a democracy. But suffering through all the campaign rhetoric is, as far as I’m concerned, one of the great burdens democracy places on its citizenry. Here it is, only January, and we are already up to our backsides in campaign talk, or “blah, blah and blah,” as Mr. Colby so eloquently put it. Granted, there are a great many political junkies out there who fairly live for election years, who devour every scrap of campaign news like a hungry dog attacks a meaty bone and eagerly await more, who blog and flog, tweet and beat every scrap of political claptrap into submission. the process is, at best, tiresome. Presidential campaigns are becoming the latest form of reality TV. Think of it as the ultimate game of “American Idol,” but with elements of many other reality shows blended in. This time of year, the game is “Survivor,”  given the fact players are dropping out right and left. Herman Cain and Michelle Bachmann already have been voted off the island. Rick Perry is one tribal council away from vying with them for the title “the Biggest Loser.” all the candidates are trying to prove they have “the X Factor,” and they deserve to win “the Amazing Race.” the problem is, candidates often waltz around issues with more alacrity than contestants on “Dancing with the Stars.” for voters, wading through all the spin and empty promises is a job worthy of the “Mythbusters.” Candidates’ rhetorical gaffes frequently threaten to land them on “Last Comic Standing.” In the campaign’s early days, they spend their time in catfights worthy of any of the “Real Housewives” shows, of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” or even “Jersey Shore.” Unfortunately, the whole campaign rapidly degenerates into a “Celebrity Circus.” all voters want to know is what these candidates  will do in “the Real World.” how will they give our economy an “Extreme Makeover,” and how they plan to tackle one of “America’s Toughest Jobs,” while also acknowledging that governing truly ranks as one of the country’s “Dirty Jobs.” Ultimately, the candidates want to prove to the voters, the real “American Pickers,” that they should be chosen “America’s next top Model,” not “the Apprentice.” But the question I have for each and every one of them is, “are you Smarter than a 5th Grader?” Mullin is senior writer of the News & Eagle. Will Rihanna and Chris Brown Get Back Together?

Will Rihanna and Chris Brown do the unthinkable?

Nearly three years after the infamous assault that ended their relationship and nearly put him in jail, the two are working toward getting back together, according one of the most prolific and unreliable celebrity news sources around! That’s crazy!

Chris Brown and Rihanna’s Tweets this week got people talking, and MediaTakeOut (dot) com has apparently “been hearing reports for some time” that Rihanna and Brown are working on “RECONCILIATION” (their word, and unnecessary capitals).

SO is it happening or not?

According to the celebrity gossip site, a person close to Chris Brown says he’d like nothing more than to get back with her. But since the “incident” Chris felt that he’d destroyed any and all chances of a relationship with his “soul mate.”

So he stayed away from her, by law, at her request.

But now things have changed. Rihanna and Chris are speaking to each other on the phone, exchanging IMs and text messages to boot. Insanity!

She’s in Barbados right now (check out these bikini photos!) but they reportedly plan to meet up when Rihanna returns to Los Angeles next week.

Chris is said to be ecstatic, but Jay Z and Rihanna’s managers are reportedly furious that they’re back on speaking terms and may reconcile?

Will they? Is any or all of this true? Stay tuned …
